Lo and behold, I make a post. Here is a link to an article I wrote during my senior year for our school paper, The Hi-Life: http://www.hendersonisd.org/images/messages/Feb09Hi-Life7119.pdf. It was written in reaction to plans to implement yet another ineffective abstinence-only program for the high school. My article is on page 3 of the pdf file, and another article detailing the program is on page 2. I tried to retrieve the original article, which contained an extra paragraph that elaborated on abstinence-only in relation to LGBT students, but my computer seems to have eaten it. The paragraph was taken out prior to printing to avoid censorship. In the end, HHS went on to adopt the program. I took the course for laughs, and it was even more pathetic than I predicted it to be. I apologize for the lack of commentary from the program's director, Victoria Somebody, but she did not respond to the multiple calls and messages I sent her. I met her when she visited the school, and when I inquired about the messages, she responded, "Oh, honey? I never talked to you about that? I thought I did, I am so sorry, girl!"
